Royal Magazine, “The Gentlemen’s Monthly Companion,” was a fourpence Pearson’s publication edited in 1903 by W. C. Light, who solicited “bright short stories, articles, and verses specially welcomed. Average length of stories 1000 to 4000 words.” Royal published photographs of actors and noted people and ran seven or eight short stories to each issue, a couple of poems, two or three articles of “up-to-date” interest with much of the material verging on the humorous. Wodehouse contributed a small number of Wrykyn stories to Royal Magazine, as well as a couple of poems.
